Families First Partnership for Cheshire East

Supporting Families, Together

Welcome to the Families First Partnership Programme

We’re thrilled to be progressing the Families First reforms in Cheshire East – designed to strengthen the support available for children and families through more joined-up, relationship-based working. These reforms place prevention, early help, and children’s voices at the heart of everything we do.

Why Families First?

Following the learning from ten national Families First for Children Pathfinder areas, this programme aims to:

  • Transform the system of support and protection for families
  • Ensure every family can access the right help at the right time
  • Build services focused on early intervention – to prevent crises
  • Strengthen relationships and keep children’s voices central to decision-making

All areas are required to implement the Families First reforms by April 2026.

What This Means for Cheshire East

This is a chance to work together — across services, teams, and communities — to design a local approach that empowers families to thrive.

We’re already making progress and are grateful to everyone who has joined us at events and workshops to date. A wide range of voices and insights from right across our partnership will be vital to shaping this transformation.
